Meet the Discover Twickenham BID team

If you don’t know who the Discover Twickenham BID Directors are running the BID tax ‘extortion racket’ in Twickenham, then here we are, these are the people who are:

  • Spending your levy as they feel fit.

  • Being sure to advertise their own businesses through the BID above yours.

  • Making spending decisions without proper transparency or accountability.

  • Doing what they can to help the council force the BID tax on you again for another 5 years.

  • Not caring what you have to say and see themselves as ‘above you’ with the power they hold.

By name, along with their date of appointment and business name, here are the Discover Twickenham BID Ltd Directors registered at Companies House as at 13th December 2022. As they seem to like advertising themselves so much, we’re sure they’ll appreciate this extra publicity:

  • Kevin Jones, (13/1/20) - Eel Pie Records.

  • Ricardo Garcia (18/2/20) - Ricardo’s Cellar.

  • Philip Giesler (1/7/22) - Councillor.

  • Maja Lubkowska (18/2/20) - Wetherspoons.

  • Michael Macauley (30/11/20) - Liferay.

  • Fiona Oakley (22/12/21) - Chase Buchanan.

  • Antimos Ouzounoglou (4/2/20) - Richmond Dental Suite.

  • Stuart Sandys (4/2/20) - Sandys Fishmongers.

  • Sandrine Singh (30/3/22) - Foreign Stones.

You can also view the above team of BID Directors with photos here.

Remember that each of these Directors is accountable to you as a levy payer, they call the shots, not the BID Manager Amanda McLoughlin. So if you want the BID tax to end then you must lobby every one of these Board Directors, they are the only ones who have the power not to go to reballot, its a decision they can make and don’t be told otherwise!

If you are a Discover Twickenham levy payer and would like to be put in touch with Twickenham campaign team against the BID, then please send an email.

P.S. From what we've heard about BID Board Directors around the UK, the following sorts of things appear rife:

  • Putting self interests above other levy payers.

  • Not listening to the views of levy payers.

  • Ostracizing levy payers, holding personal biases, not engaging with and blocking levy payers from social media if a levy payer dares start critising or providing feedback to their BID.

  • A small group of individuals holding 'power' as Directors for too many years.

  • Nepotism, giving jobs or contracts to family members or friends rather than hiring qualified candidates or putting contracts open to tender to ensure the best service for the best price.

  • Abusing their positions of power by engaging in unethical decision-making such as offer preferential treatment to certain businesses over others.

Although we are told most BID Directors will act ethically, it’s important to be aware that some may abuse their positions in the above ways. We'd be interested if you've seen or have any evidence of any of the above wrong doings in Twickenham, if so please comment below and/or confidentially send an email.
