HWBIDCo (High Wycombe Business Improvement District) is not fit for purpose and an unnecessary stealth tax on the businesses of our lovely town. It's had 10 years to prove itself as a great investment but it has failed demonstrate this, it’s nothing more than another tax collected by the Council.

10 reasons to vote NO to HWBIDCo
1. BID is an extra tax on hard working businesses we just don’t need.
2. The BID is reducing financial demands on the Council at the expense of us businesses.
3. They promised BID would be a great investment, but it’s not, what return on investment on your money paid have you seen? Do you really want to be made to pay for another 5 years?
4. Undemocratic voting process.
5. For this ballot they’ve changed the boundary, included 61 more businesses in the BID map without a proper consultation or warning to the businesses.
6. Lack of transparency and poor communication with levy payers.
7. Bucks Council have too much block voting power in the ballot, they have 27 votes for hereditaments like car parks. They have too much a vested interest in ensuring BID gets in and have already decided to vote YES against businesses for each of their 27 votes.
8. Despite worst ever trading conditions they've had no compassion for hard hit businesses, whilst other BIDs have waived or discounted the BID levy. The BID even put staff on furlough instead of trying to help businesses!
9. Some businesses will be paying less than others, their levy is discounted, that is not fair.
10. Do you like how the BID is blackmailing you into voting YES? Without BID High Wycombe will not lose everything they claim and there are alternatives, remember that most towns and Cities in the UK do not have a BID.
As levy payers we deserve better whilst Buckinghamshire Council are neglecting their responsibilities and laughing all the way to the bank.
We don’t want another 5 years of this extortion.

The BID Directors have taken it upon themselves to include 61 more businesses in the BID area, without any proper consultation.
The businesses in the proposed new BID boundary have not been part of BID for the past 10 years because HWBIDCo knows they will not benefit from the services it provides. So why on earth the Directors outside of their own formal BID renewal consultation process have suddenly deemed that we now will benefit really is beyond everyone.
In a very underhanded way these businesses are being ‘dragged‘ into the BID area without proper consultation, effectively being forced into the BID boundary at ballot.
